Help with recording, exports and your library.
On this page
Make your first recording
- In Scripts, tap the plus tile and type or paste your words. You can also choose Try a sample script.
- Use the editor’s red Record button, or the library’s Record button and script chooser, to open Camera. Opening Camera does not start a recording.
- Allow camera and microphone access when iOS asks. Adjust the text size, background and pace to suit your reading.
- Tap Record in the studio. Keep the app visible and the phone in the same orientation during the take. Tap Stop when you finish.
- Open Videos to play the original, edit it or export a copy.
To practice without using the camera, open Rehearse from Script actions. Camera and microphone permissions are not required for rehearsal.
Recording and scrolling
Is there a recording limit or subscription?
The current beta has no app-imposed recording time or file-size cap. Purchases are disabled; recording, editing, exporting and saving do not require a subscription.
Available storage, battery, heat, camera interruptions and other device conditions still affect how long a recording can continue. There is no guarantee of a particular recording duration.
Why won’t recording start?
Check camera and microphone access in iPhone Settings, then reopen Camera. The app needs about 2 GB of free space to start so it has room to record and finish the file safely. Free space if the app reports low storage.
Stop another app that is using the camera or microphone, return to this app and try again. The current capture format is 1080p at 30 frames per second in SDR.
How do I control the scrolling text?
Play starts the text. Dragging the text pauses it so you can find your place. Use Size, Background and Speed to adjust the reader. Reader Settings also controls alignment and the prompt panel.
Reaching the end of a script pauses the text; it does not stop an active recording. Tap Stop to finish the take.
What if the recording stops unexpectedly?
Return to the app and check Videos before trying again. Incomplete or interrupted takes remain visible when recoverable. Low storage, leaving the app, locking the phone, camera interruptions or device conditions can end a take.
Keep the phone unlocked and the app visible while recording. Capture orientation is fixed when a take starts; stop before changing orientation for a new take.
Edit, export and save
Will trimming or cropping change my original?
No. Open a take in Videos, choose Edit Video, adjust the trim or crop, then tap Done to save the edit. The original recording stays in the library. Export MP4 creates a separate edited copy.
How do I save to Photos, Files or Share?
Choose Export MP4 and keep the app open until the checked export is ready. Then choose Save to Photos, Save to Files or Share.
Photos asks only to add the selected video. In Files, choose a destination and tap Save. In Share, choose an app or activity and complete its steps. That destination controls its own copy.
Why did an export stop or ask me to retry?
Export needs the app in the foreground. If you leave the app or the export is interrupted, return and choose Retry. Your original remains intact. If free space is low, make room first.
A missing temporary MP4 can be recreated from the original and saved edit. Check that you still have the original before deleting anything from the library.
Did my save or share finish?
Check the destination when a result is marked unknown or you left the app before it finished. An unknown result does not mean the copy failed. Confirm what happened before making another copy, especially in Photos.
If Photos permission is denied, change it in iPhone Settings or choose Files or Share instead.
Scripts and your library
Can I import a script?
Open the Edit menu in Scripts and choose Import Text. Select a UTF-8 plain-text file up to 1 MB. For other formats, copy and paste the text into a new script.
Can I restore a deleted script?
Open Recently Deleted from the library’s Edit menu and choose Restore. Deleting a script does not delete its recordings. Deleting an original recording is a separate confirmed action.
Are my scripts and videos synced or backed up?
The app has no account-based cloud library or app-operated sync service. Device backups may include app data depending on your iOS and computer backup settings. Check your backups rather than assuming they contain every take.
Save important videos to Photos or Files and copy any script text you need before deleting the app or moving to another phone. See the privacy policy’s backup explanation.
How do I remove all app data?
Keep the copies you need first, then delete the app through iOS. Choose Delete App rather than Offload App, which retains documents and data. This removes the app’s local library, preferences and diagnostics.
Delete exported copies and manage existing backups separately. We cannot recover a local library for you through an app account.
