Why we’d choose Teleprompter Pal for a longer script
A script that runs past 750 characters should still be usable while you decide whether it works on camera. Teleprompter Pal lets you create or paste a longer script, rehearse, record several takes and save trim/crop edits for free. Its text-size limit is 1 MB. You pay for Pro when you want the MP4 and delivery.
That makes it a useful choice when the recording is still a work in progress. Repeat the difficult sentence, shorten the opening and adjust the frame without discarding the original. Keep the take in your library and return to the edit later.
No Teleprompter Pal account is required for this local workflow. We have not verified the competitor’s account requirements, so we do not claim an account or privacy advantage over it. For the full process, see recording video with a script on iPhone.
Refine the take. Keep the original.
In our saved Teleprompter Pal device check, we shortened an 11.90-second original to a 7.90-second square MP4. The original remained available, and we restored its full length and original crop.
- Original retained
- 11.90 seconds
- Trimmed copy
- 7.90 seconds
- Export checked
- 1080 × 1080 MP4
Checks also covered Photos, Files and Share Copy, plus reopening the saved edit after restarting the app. This verifies Teleprompter Pal’s workflow within that development-build test. We have not tested original recovery in Teleprompter for Video or measured comparative speed, quality or reliability. Read the sanitized test record.
When Teleprompter for Video is the better fit
If your script fits within 750 characters and you need a free saved video, its documented free tier is more generous at delivery. It includes recording, trim/resize, basic captions and save/share. Teleprompter Pal requires Pro for MP4 export and delivery.
Its listing also describes voice-assisted scrolling, document imports and remote controls. Premium adds a floating prompt and more production tools. Those are meaningful reasons to choose it if they replace steps in your current process. We have not measured its speech tracking or verified every in-app feature gate.
Its guide also quotes lower annual and monthly subscription prices than Teleprompter Pal. Our recommendation is for longer free scripts and the demonstrated reversible editing workflow. It does not depend on a lower paid price or an untested claim that the other app loses your original.
Test the script limit and the saved video separately
Start with the same short script under 750 characters, including spaces. Record a pause and a deliberate retake, trim the opening and save a sample. Play it outside the app with sound. Note the paywall, watermark and whether the original can still be recovered.
Then try your real script if it exceeds the free character limit. Check what happens before recording and before export. This separates the cost of working on the take from the cost of delivering it. Use the speech time calculator to estimate delivery time; the speaking pace does not change a character limit.
Sources and testing
We make Teleprompter Pal. This comparison combines saved internal Teleprompter Pal checks, a current source-code check and official competitor documentation. We have not completed a matched recording/export task in both apps. Unverified items stay neutral.
- Teleprompter Pal device checks, 19 October 2026. iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 27.0, Teleprompter Pal 0.6.17 (37), development-signed builds. Recording, trim/crop, original retention and delivery have the scope shown in the sanitized record. They do not certify a public build or long-session reliability.
- Teleprompter Pal’s current offer and editor source, 21 October 2026. Free creation/recording/editing, Pro export and approved US subscriptions. The editor and text importer enforce a 1,048,576-byte text-size limit; this is a source check, not a new device test.

Questions before choosing
Is Teleprompter Pal a free Teleprompter for Video alternative?
Teleprompter Pal is free for scripts, rehearsal, recording, playback, trim/crop and saved edits, with a 1 MB text-size limit. Pro is required for MP4 export and Photos, Files or Share delivery. Teleprompter for Video documents free export for scripts up to 750 characters.
Which app is cheaper?
Teleprompter for Video’s help guide quotes $34.99/year or $8.99/month, and Apple lists several offers. Those published guide prices are lower than Teleprompter Pal’s $59.99/year or $19.99/month. Teleprompter Pal’s reason to choose is longer free scripts and its demonstrated reversible edit workflow. Check the actual in-app offer before purchasing.
Does 750 characters mean a one-minute recording limit?
No. It is a script-length limit, including spaces. Reading speed and pauses determine how long that script takes. We do not treat the developer’s approximate one-minute description as a fixed recording timer.
Does Teleprompter Pal follow my voice?
No. Teleprompter Pal uses the pace you set. Teleprompter for Video documents voice-assisted scrolling. We have not compared tracking accuracy or verified its current in-app gate for that feature.
