Feature comparison
Choose Teleprompter Pal when the same iPhone must show the script, record the take and retain editable video. Choose TeleprompterPAD when you need a free reader for a separate camera or mirror rig.
TeleprompterPAD checks reflect its official iOS listing and guidance, not a hands-on rig test. A remembered script is different from a saved video edit. Scroll sideways on smaller screens; a dash means unverified.

Pricing comparison
Both apps offer free prompting. Teleprompter Pal also includes free recording and saved edits; every export requires Pro. TeleprompterPAD’s free reader does not include a video recorder, so a camera and editing workflow sit outside the app.

TeleprompterPAD

Recording and editing
Separatecamera workflow
- No built-in video recording
- Use another camera or recording setup
- Choose an editor for the resulting file
These are setup requirements, not a TeleprompterPAD subscription or an app export fee. Your existing equipment and editor determine any additional cost.
Optional hardware
Soldseparately
- Remote or pedal is optional for app use
- Mirror hardware is a separate product
We do not quote one hardware total: the controller, rig, camera and local taxes depend on the setup. Hardware bundles are not a lifetime app plan.
Software offer checked 23 October 2026. Both readers are free. TeleprompterPAD has no app subscription; Teleprompter Pal’s paid boundary is delivering the video recorded and edited in the app. Teleprompter Pal prices are US dollars; its annual trial depends on eligibility. Source details.
Why we’d choose Teleprompter Pal for a scripted take
A sentence needs another attempt. The opening runs too long. The frame needs to be square. Teleprompter Pal keeps the script, set-speed rehearsal, camera, playback and saved trim/crop edits together on iPhone. You can work through those stages for free.
The script and original recording stay on the phone; no account is required for this local workflow. Keep the original separately from the edit, return to the saved changes later, or restore the full take. Pro adds every MP4 export and Photos, Files or Share delivery.
That focused workflow is our reason to recommend Teleprompter Pal for this job. It supports iOS 18 and later, has a 1 MB text safeguard and uses a pace you set. See recording video with a script on iPhone and Teleprompter Pal’s plans.
Refine the take. Keep the original.
In our saved Teleprompter Pal device check, we shortened an 11.90-second original to a 7.90-second square MP4, then restored the original length and crop. The original remained available.
- Original retained
- 11.90 seconds
- Trimmed copy
- 7.90 seconds
- Export checked
- 1080 × 1080 MP4
The check also covered Photos, Files, Share Copy and reopening the edit after restarting the app. It used an internal development build. TeleprompterPAD documents remembering its script and settings. That is not a claim about restoring video; we have not run a matched setup test. This evidence does not establish a comparative speed, quality or reliability advantage. Read the sanitized test record.
When TeleprompterPAD is the better fit
Use TeleprompterPAD when your camera is already separate from the screen holding the script. Its free reader supports reflected text and document imports. That can suit an iPad in a mirror rig or an iPhone used as a dedicated prompt screen.
Its iOS guidance documents remote button mapping and keyboard controls; the listing also names compatible pedals. Those tools can help you adjust text while your hands stay near the presentation. Exact hardware pairing is untested here. The iOS help distinguishes keyboard support from mouse mode on other platforms, so we do not claim iPhone mouse control.
Teleprompter Pal is our recommendation for the one-iPhone camera-and-editing job. TeleprompterPAD is the stronger documented fit for the free dedicated-reader setup. Do not pay for recording features if your separate camera already covers that need.
A free reader and a video recorder do different jobs
The TeleprompterPAD App Store description explicitly says the app does not record video. Its references to a recording session describe the surrounding camera setup. The optional remote controls prompting; it does not turn the reader into a recorder.
TeleprompterPAD can remember script/settings and save script documents. Those are text workflows. Teleprompter Pal’s original-retention evidence concerns the recorded video’s length and crop. We keep these distinctions visible instead of treating a script reset as a video-editing result.
This comparison covers the native iOS TeleprompterPAD app, ID 1507218595, rather than assuming every feature in the web Lite, Android or desktop editions is identical. It is also separate from other apps called Prompter Pad or PrompterPal.
Try one script through recording and export
Use one short script with a pause and a repeated sentence. Set a starting pace with the speech time calculator. In Teleprompter Pal, record while reading, review the take, trim the opening and choose a square crop. Reopen the edit and restore the original framing and length.
For TeleprompterPAD, put the script device in the position your rig needs and record with the separate camera. Test the exact remote or pedal, import a formatted document and try its markers. Then move the video through your chosen editor and delivery route. Include equipment, transfer and export steps in the comparison.
This is a suggested setup comparison. We have not completed a matched TeleprompterPAD rig, controller or recording task, and have not timed either workflow. Source inspection is not a hands-on result.
Sources and testing
We make Teleprompter Pal. This comparison uses saved internal device evidence, current source/offer checks and official TeleprompterPAD sources. Developer descriptions are not hands-on results; untested hardware compatibility and undocumented video-editing behavior stay neutral.
- Teleprompter Pal device checks, 19 October 2026. iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 27.0, Teleprompter Pal 0.6.17 (37), development-signed builds. The sanitized record covers the stated editing and delivery task. It does not certify a current public App Store binary.

Questions before choosing
Can I export for free?
Every Teleprompter Pal MP4 and Photos, Files or Share delivery requires Pro. Recording, playback and saved edits are free. TeleprompterPAD is a free reader, but does not record video. Your separate camera and editor determine the video delivery route and any cost.
Does TeleprompterPAD record video on iPhone?
No. Its official iOS listing explicitly says it does not record video. Use it as a script screen for a separate recording setup. Teleprompter Pal records while displaying the script on the same iPhone.
Which app is cheaper?
TeleprompterPAD is free for prompting; its developer says there are no fees or registration requirements. Teleprompter Pal offers free prompting, recording and saved edits, with Pro for every export: $59.99/year, $19.99/month or $9.99/week. Optional hardware and a separate recording/editing setup are different costs.
Do I need to buy TeleprompterPAD hardware?
A remote or pedal is optional for app use; touchscreen controls are available. A mirror rig can suit a separate-camera setup. We have not tested controller compatibility in either app and do not quote a universal equipment total.
Which Teleprompter Pal plan has a trial?
The yearly plan has a 3-day trial for eligible subscribers. Monthly and weekly plans have no introductory trial. All subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. TeleprompterPAD’s free reader is not a paid trial.
