Teleprompter Pal vs Teleprompter Pro

Why we’d choose Teleprompter Pal for recording and retakes

The job is to finish a take you want to keep. Teleprompter Pal brings the script, set-speed reader, camera, playback and saved trim/crop edit into the same iPhone workflow. You can try those stages for free before deciding whether to pay for export.

After a stumble, repeat the sentence and save the take. Shorten its opening or change the crop while retaining the original. Reopen the edit later, or return to the original framing and length. That is the specific workflow we have checked in Teleprompter Pal.

No Teleprompter Pal account is required for the local recording/editing workflow. We have not verified the competitor’s account requirements or compared privacy/network behavior. See recording video with a script on iPhone for the full process, or Teleprompter Pal’s plans for its export policy.

Refine the take. Keep the original.

In our saved Teleprompter Pal device check, we shortened an 11.90-second original to a 7.90-second square MP4. The original remained available. We then restored its full length and original crop.

Delivery checks covered Photos, Files and Share Copy, plus reopening the edit after restarting the app. This is internal Teleprompter Pal development-build evidence. We have not tested Teleprompter Pro’s trim/crop or original-recovery behavior, and do not claim a comparative speed, image-quality or reliability win. Read the sanitized test record.

When Teleprompter Pro is the better fit

A presenter reading from a separate display has a different problem from someone making an iPhone talking video. Teleprompter Pro documents a clean script feed over HDMI or AirPlay, independently mirrored output and advanced remote controls. Those are substantial reasons to choose it for a prompting rig.

It also documents document imports, cue points and timed scrolling. Its Auto Captions guide describes generating an SRT file from the script’s scroll timings, without voice recognition or transcription. If you ad-lib, check the resulting captions against what you actually said.

The published annual offer is $59.99, matching Teleprompter Pal’s annual amount. The advertised $159.99 one-time option may suit someone avoiding a recurring base purchase, subject to its included features. Teleprompter Pal’s recommendation here rests on its focused recording/editing workflow, not a lower annual price or having more rig controls.

Check which Teleprompter app you’re comparing

Teleprompter Pro, formerly Teleprompter Premium, is Apple app ID 941070561. Its current listing puts camera recording among the upgrade features. The developer’s pricing page also links a separate app named Teleprompter, app ID 941620509, whose listing explicitly includes free camera recording, save/share and five document imports.

We keep those offers separate. The free companion edition is a real option for recording and export; Teleprompter Pal is not the only free recorder. We have not completed both in-app purchase flows, so the feature table does not turn a download price into a verified camera or export entitlement.

Test a retake, an edit and your actual setup

Use the same script, phone position and microphone in each app. Record a deliberate pause and restart, save the take, then check the trim/crop options and whether the original is recoverable. Export a sample and play it outside the app with sound.

If remote prompting is your reason to upgrade, repeat that task with your actual controller and display. Check focus, start/stop behavior and what happens when the connection drops. For timed prompting, use the speech time calculator to choose a practical target and allow room for pauses. This is a suggested evaluation, not a test we claim to have completed in both apps.
